Φ On May 19, I will be at the Central Christian School 26th Annual Mennonite Spring Festival and Auction at 220 West Denneys Rd, Dover, DE. Click here for the location. The event helps to support the school and provides a fine venue for a relaxing day of craft shopping as well as an open air auction which includes locally, handmade quilts. Beginning at 8:00 am with a homestyle breakfast and going until about 4:00 pm, there will be rides, food, good fellowship, and did I mention food.
Φ Clayton Railroad Day Festival on Saturday, June 9, from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm beginning with a parade on Main St. and continuing with children’s activities, music, and food, all centering on Railroad Ave. This year, the festival marks and celebrates the 125th anniversary of the incorporation of the Town of Clayton. Φ On the 23rd of June, Friends of Historic Camden House and Garden Tour 2012 will begin at 10:00 am and go until 4:00 pm. Camden, Delaware is located in the central part of the Delmarva peninsula and has significant relevance to the underground railroad activities of the 1800s. This year’s tour will highlight the historic Manor House located at Brecknock Park and will include several other properties some of which have not been part of previous annual tours. Costumed docents will conduct walking tours of the main historic district, interior of the tour houses and tour gardens. Other displays and events include: Civil War Re-enactors encampment; quilt display; weavers and spinners; candlemakers; blacksmith; woodworker (me); living history story tellers; old time photo booth; tea and cookies for ticket holders. There will also be 2 hot dog stands along the tour path. Tickets: $20.00 for advance sales in Camden: Delaware Bay Trading Co., Knights Fine Jewelry, and The Tole House. Day of the event: $22.00 FOHC Tour HQ at Brecknock Park. Proceeds from this event are dedicated to the preservation of our town and its history.
